Leaving the House
We all have to leave the house sometime.
For Iggy, this is a personal slight. We do this in phases.
Let him outside if he hasn't been out in a few hours.
Bring him back inside.
THEN get ready to leave the house: shoes, jackets, etc.
Put away all the pillows in the laundry room (this can be much earlier or after he's gone out).
Close all upstairs doors.
When you're ready to go, make him 'up-up' on the chaise with his red blanket and tell him to wait. Then open the front door, and start to pull it behind you as you exit.
If he tries to go after you, shut the storm door and come back in. Re-set with him on the chaise and tell him firmly to wait. He usually only does this with Syd, but better safe than sorry.
