Playtime!

Iggy is usually pretty chill but he gets into playful moods and will bring toys or just get a bit zoomy.

Iggy has a ton of plastic-type chew toys which he will carry around and drop dramatically. He also has plush toys with squeakers, if he starts ripping them apart please pick up some of the plastic squeaker and stringier pieces, he will eat them and they will cause him a Jerry Stringer* (noted below). If you feel like giving him another toy, there are a ton in the left hand side of the buffet cabinet.

If you are playing with him with your hands, he will get excited and probably mouth your hand. He has never been aggressive, and just needs a boundary set. If you give a big “NUH UH, No bite!” to him, he will listen to the warning and either run for a toy and/or try to lick your nose. We’ve been working on ‘drop’ with him, so if you want to throw things or play with him away from his mouth, make him do that. This is easiest with a treat. This also applies to his flirt pole, otherwise he’ll tug your arm off.

His flirt pole is in the stair closet, and you can make him run around with it for about 20 minutes before he loses interest. It’s a great yard option if he’s still energetic and you don’t want to take him for a walk. You'll need treats (blue bag in the same grey bin with the greenie chunks) and tell him to ‘drop it’ when he’s caught the lure.

Iggy loves most of the neighborhood dogs, one neighbor Jen (dog Bianca- pictured) will let her dog into the yard to play with Iggy if she’s passing by.

A Word from Our Sponsors

*Jerry Stringer: when Iggy eats a string from a toy, and tries to poop it out, but the string is hanging from his butthole and he gets scared of it. If this happens, just corner him and use a paper towel or poop bag to grab it, he’s usually pretty good about allowing it. These happen maybe twice a year.
